About Us

Class of teenagers

Training Link Online, part of the Eurolink group, was set up as a separate organisation in response to the demand for relatively short, but highly professional, initial distance-learning programmes of a practical nature.

The Eurolink Group (founded by Brian Winn-Smith 1933 — 2010) is based in Sheffield External Link, in the United Kingdom, and has offered distance training courses in TESOL for the past 25 years.

With our own dedicated teaching practice unit in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria External Link - we have more to offer than any other training provider. WHY?

Because, unlike most other TESOL providers, Teacher Training is not our bread and butter. First and foremost we teach English for a living. We are a fully operational language school and have two centres, one dedicated to children and students aged 3 to 16, and the other to businesses and adults. Teaching English pays our bills. It's what we do to earn our salaries.

This allows us to pass on to the world what we know best. We are, in fact, what "you" want to be - TESOL teachers - and we have gained all the skills (through years of experience) and amassed a vast knowledge pool - including the delivery of both the Trinity CertTESOL and Cambridge CELTA one month intensives.

With 15 classrooms and over 450 students each week we know exactly what teaching EFL is all about, and whats more, all Traininglink/Eurolink students have the opportunity to visit us in Las Palmas for some real "hands on" teaching practice, many choosing to do so as part of a working holiday. Accommodation and flights can be arranged for you — and some TP options are completely FREE.

Traininglink/Euorolink courses are internationally recognised and accredited and both Las Palmas centres are registered examination centres for Trinity College London ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), the Trinity Integrated skills examinations, and a Licensed Centre for the EDI (Education Development International) offering all language based London Chamber of Commerce and Industry examinations for business and tourism. We also prepare students at all levels for the Cambridge suite of examinations from KET to Proficiency and IELTS.

If you choose to upgrade your online course to a Eurolink face to face intensive, you will do part of your teaching practice with these groups.

Our online approach

Courses are delivered in the form of PDF files, a universal format compatible with all PCs and Apple Mac computers. When you enrol you are provided with log-in details for one or more download areas. Access to these enables you to download your input modules, answer keys to check your self-assessed answers and your tutor-assessed worksheets. You will need to print the tutor-assessed worksheets and return those to Training Link Online as attachments to an email or through the post.

Attachments versus Post

How you return your worksheets to your Tutor is a matter of choice, but in a recent survey of our trainees (both past and present), many elected the hand written / post option. Why?
These are some of their comments.

  1. Contact with tutors was more "personal" and helped to reduce the feeling of loneliness and isolation felt by some.
  2. Many preferred a mix of computer use with reading and writing, not just staring continually at a computer screen.
  3. Others said that work was lost (accidentally) when closing their computer down or touching the wrong key.

However you choose to send your worksheets - they will be assessed, graded and returned to you immediately.
